Shisha was introduced to me quite recently through my brothers in the fraternity and I like the stuff. The only problem is that it is expensive where I live and only one store in the whole city sells the stuff. What can I say my city is overrun with white trash. So that leaves me with
So being an engineer, I decided to list off the design requirements:
- The ingredients must be obtainable from the local supermarket or drugstore.
- The recipe must be simple and be able to be done in a household kitchen.
- The end result must not be any more toxic than a normal cigarette.
- The shisha must taste good.
The first recipe was simply frozen juice from concentrate boiled down in tobacco. It was so sticky that I had to mix in 4 times more tobacco just to get it to burn and even then, the thing didn't smoke until I added glycerin. It smoked, but it didn't taste very much like fruit.
Today's recipe was a bit more logical and a lot more like a recipe.
1. soak and drain:
120 ml of tobacco (dry volume)
2. boil together:
125 ml of vanilla extract (artificial)
120 ml of damp tobacco (from step 1)
3 tbsp of honey
1 tbsp of glycerin
3. Boil until almost all the extract has boiled off
4. Let cool
You now have what should be smokable shisha. If there is not enough smoke, add more glycerine, if it is not sticky enough for you, add more honey.
I will keep you up to date on the progress of my recipes.
